All day we are swathed in mists,

a quiet damp.

Yesterday the rains came, the temperatures climbed.

Today there is no snow.

Christmas Day.

A perfect dawn. 

A white Christmas.

A perfect moon to greet us each cold, crisp morning.

The snow returns and lingers.

9am

We awake to a wonderland of fluffy, Narnian snow.

3.50pm

The sun melts like snow, dying in a flood of gold, down over the mountains.

Rumours of snow drift down the coast on a bitter wind.

9.45am

The bitter winds blow in again bringing hail and sleet and snow.

We wait.

A quiet morning. A brief respite from the cold.

4pm

The snow is melting off the mountain.

Sunrise.

3.30pm

A hard bright sun,

the frozen land like a silent waiting.

2.15pm

At last the snow is blown out and away, 

off to other parts for a while.

But the bitter air remains.

Out of bitter air there blooms a snowy peak.

All day we are lost, swathed in a swirling wintry haze,

and the wind moans, moans through the house.

1pm

As we watch, winter comes swooping down from the mountains.

All day wintry showers blow and squall around the mountains.

1.30pm.

The snow arrived on Saturday. Unusually early for us.

Sunset.

Cold, cold, cold...

After a week of undecided weather,

a strange, still morning.

Another bright morning. 

Frost like winter's breath in the night.

A bright, cold day that starts with a hard frost.

4.30pm

The calm returns.

...and so it storms and storms and storms...

Dusk.

The quiet lull...

3pm.

All night the wind has howled, the reeds toss and turn and sway.

The sea boom-boom-booming into our sleep.

8.20am

An undecided sort of day.

We wait for the coming storm.
Rain blows in from the mountains.

11am.

A bright, warm morning with barely a breeze.

A morning that belies the approaching storm...

3.30pm

At last the rains clear, tearing off the mountains reluctantly.

A stilly bright evening follows. 

4.30pm

After a brief interlude for Halloween the rains resume.

Lovely gloomy rain all day.

Dark by 5.30 now.

11.10am

Persistent, driving rain.

5.15pm

Rain.

6pm

The clouds boil up from behind the mountains 

as the hidden sun dies in a flood of light.

4.45pm

All colour bleaching away towards monochrome winter.

8.05am

Sunrise. 

All day the sky remains the same. 

Still and blue.

A bright sunny day. 

Crisp with the first real chill in the air.

A week without internet so a bumper update.

It was a lovely week.

The tussle between sun and rain persists,

radiant dawns, luminous dusks, 

swathes of blushing, blooming clouds lingering throughout the day.

Sunshine and showers,

the slow bleaching away of summer's green, 

back into the earth.

Another day we are dressed too warm for.

The Summer has left it's hat behind...

A dismal, rainy day sandwiched between sunny ones.

This morning the mountains have taken flight,

they simply are not there...

A promising sort of sunrise.
