skirting the mountains,

the warm air damp with it's unfulfilled promise.

Darjeeling days, 

warm rain, 

and the clouds graze the mountain tops.

Finally the rains begin to recede, and as the sun dies, 

from behind the mountain the dragon appears once again.

11pm

Like an indomitable mother, summer shakes out the clouds,

shoos away the chill, and proudly presents the perfect day.

9.40pm

The sun bursts, bleeds into a sky that speaks of dragons.

8.30pm

Contumelious cloudbursts aside,

the sun persisted.

9.30pm

The sun, it seems has returned,

yet so unexpected the day is almost done before we realise.

The day insists on lingering,

unwilling to give in to night.
